Where to buy tickets
Tickets can be bought in a number of locations.
Adults can order an Oyster card, top it up with pay as you go credit and add tickets at Oyster Online. Alternatively, customers can call Oyster on 0845 330 9876*. Students and under-18s need an Oyster photocard to enable them to benefit from free and reduced-rate travel.
* For BT residential customers, calls to the Oyster helpline will cost no more than 3.5p per minute, (current at September 2008). The price on non-BT phone lines may be different
Tube stations
London Underground stations sell a comprehensive range of printed tickets. They can also issue and top up your Oyster card.
- At ticket machines a selection of tickets is available. You can also top up your Oyster card at touchscreen ticket machines
- Ticket offices at busier Tube stations are generally open for most of the day. At less busy stations, ticket office hours vary. Check our interactive journey map for ticket office opening times at each station. When the ticket office is closed, please use the ticket machines or ask a member of staff for assistance
Buses
Single tickets can be bought with cash on board most buses. Road-side ticket machines are located at most bus stops served by buses that do not sell tickets on board.
London Overground stations
London Overground stations sell a comprehensive range of printed tickets. They can also issue and top up your Oyster card.
Please note: Watford Junction does not issue Oyster cards, but if you already have an Oyster card you can top-up with cash.

National Rail stations
National Rail stations sell single and return tickets. They also sell paper Travelcards. The following National Rail stations also issue and top up Oyster cards:

DLR stations
All Docklands Light Railway ticket machines sell single, return and one day tickets and Travelcards.
You can get an Oyster card and top it up at Canary Wharf and London City Airport station information points. There are also self-service machines at Canary Wharf, London City Airport, Cutty Sark for Maritime Greenwich and Lewisham stations.

All ticket machines at tram stops sell single, return and one day tram/bus tickets
