TfL's response to the Department for Transport's South Western Franchise Consultation

TfL has submitted a formal response to DfT's Consultation based on results from the South West London Rail Corridor Plan (RCP) study undertaken by TfL. Proposed measures to address current and forecasted levels of crowding in the South West Area are at the core of our recommendations to the DfT.

This submission makes the same recommendations to TfL's response to Network Rail South West Main Line Route Utilisation Strategy (RUS) submitted on 6 January 2006.

Collaborative work is already underway to take an integrated approach to national rail planning; the RCP has been prepared in close consultation with the Department for Transport and Network Rail.
